SUMMARY:TIME4CS - 1st Citizen Science Helix Event
DESCRIPTION:The TIME4CS consortium invites everyone to the 1st Citizen Science Helix Event on “The Role of Citizens in EU Missions Implementation” \nAbout the event\nThe event will take place virtually on Tuesday\, the 8th of February\, and is organised as part of the Citizen Science Helix – an international Open Innovation community of specialists in the fields of citizen and open science\, created to support the TIME4CS project. It addresses anyone interested in the field of Citizen Science and in participating in a project targeting one of the forthcoming Mission Calls. The event includes dedicated pitch sessions (e.g.\, short presentations from participants searching for partners) for the upcoming Mission Calls. The event will also explore issues about the institutionalisation of Citizen Science (which is also a priority for INCENTIVE under the Citizen Science Hubs). \nAgenda and registration here \nSpeakers include: \n\nNeville Reeve – Head of Mission sector\, European Commission\, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation\, Policy & Programming Centre\, Missions & Partnerships\nGabriella Leo – Seconded National Expert – Open Science policy – Science and Society\, European Commission\, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation\, ERA & Innovation\, Open Science\nMuki Haklay – Professor of GIScience\, University College London\n\nAbout EU Missions\nEU Missions are a novelty of the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. They are a new way to bring concrete solutions to some of our greatest challenges. With ambitious goals\, they will deliver impact by putting research and innovation into a new role\, combined with new forms of governance and collaboration\, as well as by engaging citizens. \nMissions will engage with citizens to boost societal uptake of new solutions and approaches. But what exactly will the role of citizens in the EU Missions implementation be? And how can we best integrate Citizen Science not only in the 5 areas of the Missions but also in our organisations? All these questions will be brought up and discussed at the event. \nAbout TIME4CS\nTIME4CS is an EU funded H2020 project aimed at supporting and facilitating the implementation of sustainable Institutional Changes in Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) to promote Citizen Science and public engagement in science and technology. \nLearn more about the projects and its aims here \nThe project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 101006201
