DESCRIPTION:INCENTIVE project is inviting you to our next live webinar of the series “Institutional changes for Citizen Science”\, called “Citizen Science Hubs explained: needs\, resources\, best practices”. \nThe webinar will be held on the 29th of August\, from 11.00 to 12.30 CEST. \nAbout the webinar\n\n\n\n\n\nThe objective of the webinar is to have a discussion on the need for one or more Citizen Science Institutional Contact Points (CS-ICPs) inside Research Performing Organisations (RPOs). Firstly\, participants will be provided with a detailed description of what CS-ICP is\, how it should be structured\, what resources are needed\, and who should take care of – and work for – it. This webinar\, from the European TIME4CS and INCENTIVE projects\, explores lessons learned from a range of institutions and their experiences\, from our symposium on the topic at the CSA’s C*Sci conference in May 2023\, and from webinar participants on the day. \nParticipants have the opportunity to hear about and discuss potential strategies for embedding citizen science within institutions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants can also share their own experiences and contribute to the creation of a resource to share possible pathways to integrate activities to promote and embed citizen science in research performing organisations (RPOs)\, hopefully supporting this often difficult process. SUMMARY:TIME4CS webinar: Ethical and legal aspects of Citizen Science
DESCRIPTION:This webinar by sister project TIME4CS will provide participants with a specific Citizen Science case study\, which implies different levels of ethical and legal challenges\, including GDPR compliance and various ethics dimension (i.e. research integrity\, gender perspective\, open access\, public engagement\, etc.). The moderators will take care of presenting the case study as a whole\, highlighting the most sensitive aspects of its implementation to focus the participants’ attention on the needed interventions. \nETHNA System will present its flexible ethical governance system\, illustrating its optimal composition for the chosen case: which “columns” should be considered (code of ethics and good practices\, ethics committee on R&I\, ethics line) and which building brick to be implemented (research integrity\, gender perspective\, public engagement\, open access)\, according to the issues raised by the case study as well as the institutional commitment and capabilities of the hosting organisation in these terms. \nThis presentation will serve a dual purpose: on the one hand\, it will give participants an understanding of the necessary framework within which embedding particular CS projects/activities (as the chosen case study)\, on the other hand\, it will outline a customised “lookalike” institutional intervention to address the ethical and legal challenges arising from the case study. \nTakeaway for participants: \n\nProvide ethical/legal protocols tailored to the institution/national requirements\nDevelop protocols on the implementation of CS activities\nDevelop plans for ethical and legal approval of CS projects\n\nThis event will take place via Zoom. \nShould you have any questions about the event\, please contact the organisers at time4cs@apre.it. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo download the agenda .
