DESCRIPTION:About the Conference\nThe two H2020 sister projects INCENTIVE and TIME4CS join forces again to deliver their Joint Final Conference. The Conference will be a landmark event for the sustainability and legacy of the two projects and will take place on the 1st of November\, at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Save the date! \nTitled “Grounding Citizen Science in Research Institutions: Science with and for Citizens”\, the Conference will be held in the aftermath of the Citizen Science 4 Health Conference – CS4H (29 October – 1 November 2023\, more information here)\, in order to target the wider European Citizen Science community. \nThe event will take place at the DesignLab’s facilities at Twente University (more information in the agenda in the link). \n \nAgenda and format\nThe Conference will be divided into two parts. DESCRIPTION:The conference\, “Connect.Collaborate.Create: Bridging Communities for Participatory Research and Citizen Science 2023”\, will bring together the diverse European communities that create and support participatory research (including its funding) and citizen science. Jointly organised by the European projects COESO and PRO-Ethics\, it will focus on the social sciences and humanities as well as on integrating participatory approaches at the research funding stage. \nOn October 19-21\, 2023 in Paris\, at Aubervilliers\, Campus Condorcet\, the Conference will welcome researchers\, Citizen Science practitioners\, and supporters from all backgrounds\, research funding organizations\, ethics\, and integrity experts\, as well as policymakers\, into a space designed for networking and mutually exploring citizen science/participatory research initiatives and services. \nThis conference uses the interactive model of ThatCamps and BarCamps\, inviting attendees to shape the content and activities. DESCRIPTION:About the event\nPolicymakers are often called to find a balance between innovation policies and choices that prioritise sustainability and citizens’ quality of life. These two aspects shall coexist in order to build a desirable future. To that end\, Citizen Science is increasingly regarded as a democratic and inclusive way of doing science\, with citizens and stakeholders becoming active players in the scientific process. \nThe INCENTIVE and TIME4CS projects have experimented in this direction over the last three years\, supporting the institutionalisation of Citizen Science in a range of pilot Research Performing and Funding Organisations\, through Citizen Science Hubs and Grounding Actions. \nDuring the event\, INCENTIVE and TIME4CS discussed their own policy reflections on institutional changes and challenges regarding the integration of Citizen Science in RPFOs and\nRPOs\, with the aim to increase their impact on policy level. The event was addressed primarily to a targeted number of EU policy stakeholders\, but in order to increase impact and communicate some key results of the project (e.g.\, Policy Brief)\, it was open to public through virtual participation. SUMMARY:TIME4CS webinar: Ethical and legal aspects of Citizen Science
DESCRIPTION:This webinar by sister project TIME4CS will provide participants with a specific Citizen Science case study\, which implies different levels of ethical and legal challenges\, including GDPR compliance and various ethics dimension (i.e. research integrity\, gender perspective\, open access\, public engagement\, etc.). SUMMARY:AUTH CSH - Measuring the quality of the air we breathe
DESCRIPTION:The Citizen Science Hub (CSh) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in collaboration with the Environmental Informatics Research Group of AUTH co-organizes with the Experimental School of AUTH (ES) the event on: “Citizen science in classrooms: measuring the quality of the air we breathe”. \nThe event will take place at the KEDEA building on Friday 28 April from 12:00-14:00. The purpose of the event is to present the citizen science project activities at the ES\, its first results\, and to initiate the participatory analysis of the collected data towards drawing first conclusions. \nThe ES community is participating in recording human activities within classrooms\, alongside the recording of air pollution levels\, the latter being done with the aid of devices that directly visualize particulate matter and carbon dioxide levels. The project aims to shed light on the relationship between human presence and activity on the one hand and air quality on the other and to co-create best practices that may lead to the reduction of air pollution levels to which pupils are exposed. \nView full programme:

SUMMARY:The Citizen Science Hub of UAB presented in Sabadell
DESCRIPTION:The City Council of Sabadell organized a 2-day conference on Citizen Science\, called ‘Jornades de Ciència Ciutadana‘ that took place on 18 and 19 of October\, 2022. \nThis Conference is presented as a forum to make visible and promote the transversal and effective use of citizen science\, considering it an essential tool to respond to the current challenges of our society. A video for the inauguration of the event and additional information can be found here.\n \nOn behalf of INCENTIVE\, UAB participated in the roundtable on Implication of the population in health-related research\, presenting the pilot case of the Citizen Science Hub at UAB.  The presentations of this roundtable can be found here. \nIn total\, during the two days that the conference lasted\, there were 17 roundtables\, 10 lectures and 4 participatory workshops. The agenda\, presentations and visual summary of the event can be found in the event’s website.  \nUAB also participated in the conference as a speaker\, talking about FAIR data.
