SUMMARY:INCENTIVE Final co-creation workshop
DESCRIPTION:INCENTIVE’s Co-creation workshop\nINCENTIVE is getting back from the summer vacations to continue the co-creation process on defining the key aspects of the governance and operating of the Citizen Science Hubs at the four pilot universities: AUTh\, VGTU\, UAB\, and UT. The last and final session of the Co-creation workshop is scheduled on September 22 at 10:00-12:00 CEST and will take place online. \nWhat has happened so far?\nINCENTIVE is now boarding for the last and final session. In the first session\, on June 16th\, we focused on Connect (getting to know each other) & Relate (understanding each other’s perspectives\, discussing frictions and issues). Being the very first session\, we needed to get to know each other and familiarise ourselves with the technology which caused some confusion which was only natural. A Mural board was used to support the first session. In the next sessions\, on June 23rd\, we first re-Connected as there were some new participants at the table) and then we dove into the content in Understand & Frame and Imagine & Ideate. We interpreted the prework outcomes\, adjusted where needed\, and moved to define a framework for the respective CSH at one of the four universities. A second Mural board was used to support these sessions. \n\nGoals and results of the final workshop\nThe goal of the fourth and final session is to focus on the Imagine & Ideate parts of the Responsible Futuring approach. At the end of the session\, we have co-defined the pivotal aspects of the governance and operation of your preferred CSH. This will be done through meaningful exercises in which you define the values of your citizen science hub\, build future scenarios for them\, and finally define the operational nodes of your CSH. \nWho can participate in the workshop?\nThe stakeholders who have already been nominated by the pilot universities will have access to the co-creation activities. However\, anyone who is interested in the process can attend as an observer in the workshop!

SUMMARY:Second consortium meeting
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, 2nd of July\, 2021\, the INCENTIVE consortium met for the project’s second consortium meeting (in a genuine summer mood). Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, the meeting was held virtually and hosted successfully by the University of Twente (Design Lab)\, the coordinator of the project. The meeting marked the end of the 1st semester of the project – which kicked off on February 2021 – and essentially paved the way for the post-summer activities\, which will resume in September 2021. \nDuring the meeting\, all WP and Task leaders had the opportunity to present in detail the work that they performed during the 1st semester\, the main challenges that they faced\, and the results of their activities. Special emphasis was placed on WP1\, led by AUTH\, which entails a large-scale and multi-dimensional preparatory research work\, whose findings will inform the subsequent development of Citizen Science Hubs in the four pilot Universities. The preliminary findings from the interviews\, large-scale surveys\, quantitative analysis\, and desk research were discussed among partners\, who also proceeded with deliberating on how the findings will inform the creation of open and inclusive Hubs that can accommodate the local societal needs in each ecosystem. \nMoreover\, the activities performed under WP2 and WP3\, which refer to the co-creation and operationalization of the Citizen Science Hubs\, respectively\, were outlined by UT\, SDA Bocconi\, UAB\, and UZH. The main dissemination and networking efforts and results (WR and ECSA)\, as well as the progress on the monitoring and assessment of the project’s activities (Q-PLAN)\, were also thoroughly presented to the consortium partners. The presentations of the Work Packages and the accomplished work gave the chance to all partners to bring up potential challenges\, mitigation measures\, and creative ideas on how to address critical aspects during the next semester. It also allowed partners to identify how each task feeds into other activities\, and thus created a sense of common responsibility for the sound execution of all work packages. \nFurthermore\, during the opening of the meeting\, several members of the project’s Advisory Board who could virtually attend\, were given the floor to introduce themselves and be connected with consortium partners\, as an ice-break activity. AB members were informed about the progress of the project while explaining their educational and professional background as well as the main reasons they decided to join the wider INCENTIVE family. \nStay tuned\, because an exciting second semester is coming! \nMake sure to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on our SMAs to receive the latest updates from our project’s next steps!

SUMMARY:Co-creation workshop – Session I
DESCRIPTION:The INCENTIVE project aims to support research institutes on how to create and operate their own Citizen Science Hub with the aim to secure a democratic and collaborative way of doing research and setting research agendas. \nTo this end\, we organize a Co-creation workshop with key experts in fields relevant to Citizen Science. The goal of this workshop is to co-define pivotal aspects of the organisation and activities of the Citizen Science Hubs. The core means for the workshop is to engage the key stakeholders of each region and to ensure substantial engagement of everyone involved. \nThe co-creation workshops will be broken down in four online sessions. The first three sessions will take place in June\, whereas the final session will take place in September. It will be fully online through the use of two digital applications: Zoom and Mural. \nWhat happens with the outcomes?\nThe outcomes of the Co-creation workshop are of vital importance to the next phases of INCENTIVE feeding the governance and operating models of each of the hubs as well as the pilots of each of the hubs. \nParticipants and observants \nEach of the four universities has nominated approx. 5 key stakeholders in the regional ecosystem that represent the quadrats of the Quadruple Helix: academia\, government\, private sector and civil society. In addition\, partners from the INCENTIVE project also will join the session as observers to get direct access to the process and outcomes of the session that are relevant for their share of the project. The observers may not influence the co-creation process. \nThe approach\, organisation and moderation of the workshops is done by the DesignLab (University of Twente). The core team includes Janine Swaak who will moderate the Co-creation workshop\, Maya van den Berg who is INCENTIVE programme manager and Jasper Häsler who provides technical support. \nStay tuned for more updates on the Co-creation sessions!

SUMMARY:KoM
DESCRIPTION:We are happy to announce that a new H2020 SwafS project started in February! \nINCENTIVE was launched in a 2-day kick-off meeting held on 9-10 February 2021 virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The project is coordinated by DesignLab University of Twente and brings together the people from 9 consortium partners from 8 different EU countries. \nOver the two-day meeting\, partners presented their tasks and contributions under the overall work plan. We had the chance to mutually clarify points regarding their involvement in tasks\, the timeline of the project\, and the optimal channels of communication among them. A series of interactive activities took place\, with partners resorting to game techniques for the conceptualization and ideation of CS Hubs\, and the general understanding of the project’s objectives.”
